Trinity vs. Bates

Spring break began in Maine with a game against Colby and ended in Maine with a game against Bates. It was a beautiful and sunny day to play against the Bobcats in Lewiston, ME. The Bantams were well fed the night before and ready to finish up spring break on a high note before going back to Hartford. Junior attacker Grace O'Donnell's parents were kind enough to host the team at their lovely home in Yarmouth, ME and feed us delicious chili, cornbread, salad, and ice cream sundaes to fuel the girls up for their game the next day.
Senior midfielder Nicole Stauffer was a huge contributor on the day with 2 goals, 1 ground ball, and 1 caused turnover. Nicole was a major threat on offense, cutting hard through the 8meter asking for the ball, catching on the move and shooting right past the goalie. Her height is a big advantage and she was able to use it well today - we were so happy to see her playing so well! Junior defender Clara Nowlan had a great day on defense today. She was putting a lot of pressure on her attacking down low by the crease and was able to cause 3 turnovers, which was awesome!
The stats were pretty even on the day - the Bantams and the Bobcats both came up with 8 draw controls a piece, 16 and 14 ground balls, 23 and 21 shots, respectively, but junior goalkeeper Zoë Ferguson was a brick wall in net, facing 16 shots on goal and saving 11 of them to help Trinity seal the deal on the win. Zoë has been incredible back in net this year for the Bantams! Her experience and confidence in goal is helping her to have a calming and commanding voice for the defense to lean on to help organize and be so solid in their defense.

With the win against Bates, the Bantams were happy to get back on the bus for the last leg of their week long spring break. They worked so hard all week long and had a well-deserved day off when they got back to Hartford. Now back into school mode....

But first, check out this video of Grace. Her parents jumped on the opportunity to embarrass her while we were at her house so they showed us a video of when she was younger. She hasn't lost her Irish step dancing skills!
