Trinity vs. Ithaca

The Bantams took on the Ithaca College Bombers in Nashville, TN over spring break. We were hoping to get away from the cold, dreary winter weather of Hartford for the week, but unfortunately it followed us down to Tennessee! There were snow flurries for the start of the game and it was a brutally cold morning for the game.
Unfortunately, the cards were not falling in favor of the Bantams this game. They came out strong and went out to a 7-1 lead in the first 23 minutes of the first half. At halftime, the Bombers had cut the lead to 8-4. Junior goalie ZoĆ« Ferguson was getting pounded by free position shot after free position shot. She played a great game, with 12 saves on 23 shots, but Ithaca got 14 free position shots, and it is just so hard to stay in a game when they are able to get so many direct shots on cage. It was a hard fought second half, but the Bombers etched away one at a time to overtake the Bantams by 1 goal in the end.
Freshman midfielder Ashley Turnbull had an outstanding performance for the Bantams. She came out and made a major impact on the field, which was so great to see. She scored 3 beautiful goals and had a great assist to junior attacker Abby McInerney, who also had a standout game with 3 goals and an assist.

While we always hate to lose, it is a good reality check and swift kick in the butt and shock to the system to get a loss. Luckily, it is still very early in the season and I have no doubt that the Bantams will refocus after this game and come back together stronger than before.

GO BANTS!!!!
